Oval. A black horse, standing quietly beside a stone arch.

The green is vivid, the trees dark above, the arched bridge curving behind the horse in the way of a garden that belongs to no particular place or time. This fragment came from the same richly decorated transferware plate as another pendant in this collection, but landed here instead, on the horse rather than the people. Same imagined world. A different corner of it.

Set in antique gold wire, hand-formed into an oval frame with a looped bale at the top. The colours are strong and clear. The horse is unbothered by any of it.
