Old Country Roses Oval, Just Before They Open, Gold

Two crimson buds, tight and pointed, sit at the centre of the oval, one above the other. A deeper red bloom anchors the lower half. The roses here are not yet open, not quite arrived, and there is something quietly compelling about catching them at that moment. Green leaves curl around them, and the cream ground shows through, giving the whole composition room to breathe.
