It's A Small World

It's A Small World. The name is exactly right.

This collection is built from china where someone painted a figure and meant it. A woman in a bonnet carrying flowers, her skirt rendered in colours that have lasted longer than anyone who first owned the piece. A couple standing close together on a sweep of green, caught in the particular way of people who think nobody is looking. A moose at the edge of a mountain lake, unhurried and solid. A stag on an open ground with his antlers up, composed and still.

Tiny scenes. Careful work. Real care given to small things.

Most of these pieces arrived without a name attached. The makers didn't always sign their work, or the marks wore away, or the piece simply came to us the way things do, from a thrift store shelf or an estate sale box, without papers. What came with them was the image itself. The figure. The animal. The moment someone once thought was worth putting on china.

We cut each piece carefully, choosing the fragment that holds the most of the original scene. Set into a hypoallergenic aluminum frame, finished in gold or silver, with a hand-formed wire bale at the top.

The little world. Already a pendant before anyone called it that. No two are the same, and once they're gone, they're gone.
